Val’s Look:

The Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival this August on Long Island is the perfect way to start closing out the summer. We don’t want it to end, but since it’s going to we’re glad it’s going to go out this way. Music festivals get hot, they get sticky, they get uncomfortable- but with street style photogs popping up all over festival grounds, you know you’re not going to let the heat keep you from dressing to impress. Put away the shorts/crop top combo for this one! Opt for a simple t-shirt dress like this one from Vans. If glam is more your speed stick with a cutout t-shirt dress that will shine in the sun like this H&M number. If you prefer a more simple look then the River Island t-shirt/cami combo dress is the BEST option for ya. The best part about each of these dresses? They each pair well with a fun pair of Commes des Garcons Play sneakers, a simple choker, and oversized festival-perfect House of Harlow 1960 sunnies. You’ll want to have a hands-free bag because let’s be real here, you’re going to spend a lot of your time Snapchatting, Instagramming, recording, and taking pictures to capture every kick ass moment during the festival. A summer white mini crossbody with a little bit of edge can go a long way, but if you’re more into brights the neon option may be what you need. Bonus: both handbags are part of a summer sale at Rebecca Minkoff like…right NOW.

Sam’s Look:

Thanks to Coachella and various other festival style concerts, when getting ready for a concert of this nature there is now a sort of a festival uniform to go by. This uniform is quintessentially what bohemian dreams are made of. So for the Billboard Musical Festival at Jones Beach I had a few ideas of the type of outfit that would fit the bill. Flowy boho style dresses are perfect for a concert like this because they are as chic as they are comfortable. Once I found the perfect dress it was easy for the rest of the outfit to fall into place. Gladiator sandals, a wide brim hat, a choker necklace, and a backpack top off the look to make you completely festival ready. The beauty of the fringe backpack is that it’s small enough to not weigh you down but big enough to hold all the essentials that you’ll need.

When planning the perfect outfit for your upcoming concert plans there are several things to take into consideration. Obviously fashion comes first, but comfort should also play a major factor in choosing your outfit because you may be taking different modes of transportation and walking before you even make it to the venue. For a Drake concert at Madison Square Garden I knew the perfect outfit would need to be the right combination of sporty, sexy, and comfy because when “One Dance” comes on you’re going to be dancing in the aisle. A body con skirt, casual crop top, and converse high top sneakers should do the trick. Top it off with a baseball cap, easy crossbody purse, and a red lip and you’re ready to go enjoy the show. The denim skirt with suspenders make your outfit stand out a little more than just a traditional body con skirt and the leather converse take your sneaker game up a notch. Bonus points for the leather converse being easier to clean off if someone spills a drink on you at the show!

Val’s Look:

When I put together outfits for concerts I’m going to, I like to pull inspiration from the headlining artists album, the tour promo, or the city I’m seeing it in. There was no better color combination that I could think of for the Summer Sixteen Tour with Drake and Future than black and grey. And to be honest, a million outfits didn’t even run through my mind for this particular show. I knew exactly what would be the perfect outfit on first thought. At a Drake show you want to feel sexy, kick ass, and look like that hot ex-girlfriend he’s singing about in “Hotline Bling.” I mean, amirite? I think so. For this look, I started from the shoes and built the look from there. An over-the-knee open toe boot, like this pair from Lola Shoetique is the way to go. Boots like this always pair well with a short t-shirt dress with subtle cutouts like this simple one from Necessary Clothing. While the show might be hot, summer nights in the city aren’t always the same- keep an oversized denim jacket in tow like this Vintage Guess one from Etsy to cover up on your way to the after party. We’re not done yet- no outfit is complete without the perfect bag! A mini-moto bag, like this distressed one from Rebecca Minkoff, tops off this sleek outfit with the perfect amount of edge it needs- plus, it has enough room for a nude Armour Beauty lipgloss.Screen Shot 2016-08-02 at 4.37.31 PM.png

Val’s Look:

The MTV Video Music Awards have given the music industry some of the sexiest, most fashionable fashion moments in award show history. At the same time, it has definitely given us its fair share of fashion faux-pas and major no-no’s. Stray away from being an award show “don’t” this year and go for sleek, sexy, and subtle shine. Dresses and two-piece suits have become predictable on the red carpet. Everyone is doing it- but this is your time to be different. A sexy jumpsuit is an alternative that is just as sexy as a dress or skirt/top combination. A slim pant jumpsuit, like this one from Halston Heritage, is a safe bet and a worthy splurge for the star studded night. However, the wide leg option can take you from the show to the after party without any outfit change. Bonus: the wide leg jumpsuit by Halston Heritage is available for rental from RentTheRunway! The high neck on both makes a statement, giving you more options for arm candy and earrings. Ankle strap heels complete the sexiness of the jumpsuit. Whether you want a single strap, or you want to take a risk with three, these heels from Lola Shoetique get the job done. A silver Dannijo cuff gives the look some polish and pairs especially well with a small clutch like this one from House of Harlow 1960.
