The start of a New Year presents us with the opportunity for a fresh start in whatever aspect of our lives that we feel needs it most. We spend all of December analyzing where we are, where we want to be and what it’s going to take to get us there. By the time New Year’s Eve rolls around, we have our resolutions made and swear up and down that this is going to be the year we finally start eating healthier, lose those last stubborn 10 pounds and start that project that’s going to finally reward us with the breakthrough moment our career needs.
We start off the New Year on the right foot feeling motivated, inspired and all about our new routines. But just a few weeks later a majority of us lose that motivation to work towards our resolutions and we stop holding ourselves accountable. We’ve all found ourselves here before, maybe more times than we care to admit. I have no shame in calling myself out on being a repeat offender with that one!
Life certainly has no shortage of hardship for all of us and as someone who has relied heavily on music to get through those difficult times I’ve found that music is also an effective tool to end the bad habit of breaking New Year’s resolutions.
Music has a unique way of creating connection many of us crave. Just a single song can remind us of special people in our lives or certain experiences we’ve had every time we hear it no matter how much time has passed. It can also inspire us, keep us on track with our goals and hold us accountable for our actions.
At the end of every year I make a list of my resolutions for the New Year accompanied with a playlist that I can listen to when I find myself getting further away from achieving my goals. If you love and listen to music as much as I do, than a playlist is exactly what you need to differentiate yourself from those who don’t keep their resolutions. This New Year’s Resolution playlist is filled with some of my favorite inspirational tracks including Rise by Katy Perry and Superheroes by The Script that will light the spark inside you that’ll keep you driven to achieve whatever it is you set out to do![wordads]
