The hysteria surrounding Harry Styles continued to sweep the globe this past weekend as Harry did his first live performance since the release of his debut single, ‘Sign of the Times.’ This momentous performance happened at an equally momentous place—the Saturday Night Live stage in New York City, and it was everything we could’ve hoped for and more.

At first glance, Harry appeared as swoon-worthy as ever, somehow looking dapper in a suit that probably everyone’s grandpa owned at some point in their youth (so like, a really long time ago). Somehow, he made the suit work and poured his heart out to his new single, revealing so much soul in his voice that we may not have ever heard had One Direction still been… you know… together.
Throughout his performance, it almost seemed like he didn’t know what to do with the rest of his body, which again, somehow translated as totally adorable (we truly don’t know how he does it). Appearing like a lost puppy at times, it was almost like he continued to look behind him expecting to see his former band mates so he could jam out with them. And while we’ve all been rooting for a 1D reunion up until this point, solo Harry is kind of… better?

Considering this was his first live solo performance, he did exceptionally well. Sure, he seemed to struggle with some of the falsetto notes in the chorus and his voice cracked a bit during the bridge, but anyone with ears could tell how unbelievably talented he is. The most important thing is that he actually can sing live, which is something that so many ~others~ can’t seem to do at all.
Harry also performed another song off his upcoming self-titled album, called ‘Ever Since New York,’ which fans believe is about his famous ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Regardless of who or what the song is about, the bottom line is this: if anyone doubted Harry before this performance they were proven very wrong. This performance alone is proof of why he needs to be front and center, so front and center he will be.
