The Teen Choice Awards are one of the pinnacle pop culture events of the summer. This year’s show is set to be held live on August 13th, 2017 at 8/7c on FOX. While it is unknown as of press time who will be hosting and performing at the show, the first wave of nominees has been revealed. Voting closed over the weekend, but voting for the second wave of nominees is scheduled to begin on July 12th at 9pm PT/12pm EST.
Selena Gomez and Harry Styles lead the nominees in the music categories; Selena is nominated for two of her songs: “Bad Liar” and “It Ain’t Me,” while Harry is nominated for Choice Male Artist, Choice Rock Artist and Choice Song: Male for “Sign of the Times.” Will Harry be able to beat out Justin Bieber in Choice Male Artist and Choice Song: Male? Maybe. Harry is also competing against his former One Direction bandmate, Niall Horan, for Choice Song: Male; it will be interesting to see fans pick between the two. Selena will likely win several awards in the music categories as she tends to be a fan favorite. Hailee Steinfeld is nominated for both her music and her movie, Edge of Seventeen, and has the potential to win in both categories. Fifth Harmony is nominated for Choice Group and Choice Song: Group for their collab with Gucci Mane, “Down,” and will likely win in both categories.
Below, check out the list of the first wave of nominees and their respective categories and let us know in the comments who you think will take home the award in each category. Remember to check Teen Choice’s website for the next wave of nominees, coming soon!
