Get your pink hair dye and cargo pants ready, because Avril Lavigne is releasing a new album this year!

This will be the “Complicated” singer’s sixth studio album, and first since 2013’s self-titled. The punk rocker turned pop singer-songwriter we all grew up loving recently signed to BMG and has a whole new team behind her for this effort, stating to Billboard that she “challenged [herself] as a songwriter and [she] wanted to write about topics [she] hadn’t hit on before.”

After battling Lyme disease for the past two years and being bedridden for months at a time, the 32-year-old Ontario-native is beyond ready to be making new music again, as stated on Instagram last month:

We may still associate Avril with her punk roots (come on, who doesn’t listen to Sk8er Boi daily?!), but the artists she lists as her current inspirations radically differ from that scene: Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, etc. The “Girlfriend” singer told Billboard, “I got my start in church and at country fairs when I was a young child, and I think those earlier influences are definitely coming out now.”

While there may be no released singles off the highly anticipated LP yet (due before the end of 2017), Avril said she already has one in mind! We can’t wait to hear it, but in the mean time, here’s a playlist of our all time favorite Avril Lavigne jams! (I definitely recommend blasting this full-volume while you get ready in the morning)
