Last week, Lorde announced that Run The Jewels, Mitski, and Tove Styrke will be joining her for the North American leg of her Melodrama World Tour. Kicking off in Milwaukee, these opening acts will rotate across 31 dates of the ‘North American Dance,’ adding unique flare and diversity to each show. Lorde has never shied away from her love of rap and alternative pop artists, so it comes as no surprise that she would pick the perfect blend of musicians to warm the crowd before her sets.

Lorde has already embarked on the European leg of the ‘Melodrama World Tour,’ exciting fans with her extensive setlist that covers her past two records and debut EP. The production for this tour stays true to Lorde’s minimalistic nature, as she is only accompanied by towering neon signs that shine behind her as she grooves to her own tracks. A little light and emotional ballads are all Lorde needs to excite the crowd, and it’s inevitable that the audience will leave with an feeling of intimacy that other tours fail to possess.

For her opening acts, audiences will either endure a hyper-rap show with Run The Jewels, or a calming pop moment with Tove Styrke or Mitski. Each date has a unique combo of the three acts, so some audiences may see Run the Jewels with Tove Styrke, Run the Jewels and Mitski, or just Tove Styrke alone. Either way, you will gain a new favorite artist to listen to after the concert. I had the opportunity to see Run The Jewels at FYF Fest in Los Angeles earlier this year, and I can attest to their energetic sets. If you have tickets to a date with them as the opener, MAKE SURE you arrive early to dance more than you thought possible. Tove Styrke and Mitski play more on the pop-side of Lorde’s taste, where you will be singing along to catchy choruses in anticipation of hearing ‘Melodrama’ live. Listen to some of the opening acts’ top songs on Spotify and prepare for a tour that brings Lorde’s midnight mind to life!
