4 Artists You Wish Had a Christmas Album

Every year before the Holidays, Christmas Albums flood the stores and radio stations. You have your Holiday staples like; Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé, but what about all the artists that you loved throughout the year? What about the artists that you WISH would make a Christmas Album, but like clockwork every December you’re met with nothing? Well, look no further. Here’s a list of all your favorites that NEED a Christmas Album to get you through to the New Year:

Dan Smith is a musical genius and you can quote me on that. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Dan Smith is the lead singer of the popular indie band Bastille, known for songs such as “Pompeii” and “Good Grief.” Dan is credited for most of the song writing/producing for the band, which is what makes their music so uniquely Bastille. They’re known for their pop culture references to David Lynch films and television shows like “Twin Peaks,” even mixing in audio samples from said films and television shows. In 2012, Bastille released the song “Tuning In” from their mixtape Other People’s Heartache, Pt. 2. The band was able to take their distinct musical style and transform “O Holy Night” into a fresh modern rendition of the Christmas classic. If this is what they could do with one song, imagine what they could do with an entire Christmas Album? It’s 2017 and all I want for Christmas is a Bastille Christmas Album. Is that too much to ask? I think not. 3. Sam Smith:

The Stay with Me singer has been killing it on the pop charts with his new album, “The Thrill of It All.” With his soulful lyrics and velvety voice, it’s shocking that this power house hasn’t released a Christmas Album yet. Back in 2014, Sam released a cover of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” and it’s nothing short of perfection. Sam has the perfect vocal quality to make a classic Christmas album. In fact, his diva-like song style puts him on the level of Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, and Mariah Carey all Christmas Album alumni. Sam come join the Christmas celebration with some of the top voices of all time and just make a Christmas Album for me to blast nonstop.

2. Panic! at The Disco:

Singer Brendon Urie knocked it out of the park in 2016 with the success of his album, Death of a Bachelor. The crooning, Frank Sinatra, ragtime vibes oozed from the album, truly elevating the Brendon’s musical style. I can only imagine what he could do to Christmas Classics with this newfound persona. The juxtaposition of the bands rock roots and the smooth sounds from Death of a Bachelor is something that needs to be made into a Christmas Album for the masses to enjoy. Panic! did release a Christmas song this year called, “Feels Like Christmas,” but I was not impressed. It’s a huge departure from Death of A Bachelor maybe because it’s an original song and not a Christmas cover, but it’s too Pop-like for my taste in Christmas tunes. I think if Brendon had the time to make a full Christmas Album he could blow our expectations out of the water—only if he departs from whatever he did for “Feels Like Christmas.” 1. Adele:

Sweet, sweet Adele. She is a heavy hitter in the music scene making historical record sales for her third studio album, 25. Her voice is beloved by millions because of her numerous break-up and heartbroken melodies that tug on the heart strings of even the biggest Grinch. I am a huge Adele fan and I can’t think of anything more I would love than a Christmas album from this queen. Similar in style to Sam Smith, Adele is a powerhouse vocalist that can belt the house down. With her hits such as “Someone Like You” and “Rolling in the Deep,” there is no need to justify wanting an Adele Christmas Album. Honestly, it’s a no-brainer—Adele plus Christmas equals the best Christmas EVER!

So, there you have it! Four artists you totally wish had a Christmas Album. Maybe Santa will make our wish come true in 2018?
