Maroon 5 Wait Music Video

Adam Levine Tests Out SnapChat Filters in Maroon 5’s “Wait” Music Video

Upon watching Maroon 5‘s music video for their new single “Wait” for the first time, you may find  that you’re a little taken aback. It was definitely not your typical music video, especially coming from a band we’ve gotten to know pretty well for over a decade. The entire music video was comprised of different clips of Adam Levine, Maroon 5’s lead singer, as he filmed himself through his phone while using various Snapchat filters. We know… he’s truly one with the millennials.

Other than the atypical music video, the song itself is actually really great! However, when you compare the song with the music video, it’s apparent that the two concepts don’t fit very well together. However, this is not me bashing the music video at all. Actually, I really loved the concept. Overall, though, I just didn’t feel like the theme of the song went with the snapchat filter concept, but maybe that was what the band was going for!

All that aside, I do certainly appreciate Maroon 5’s willingness to alter what has worked for them in the past in order to appeal to their younger fans. After all, Maroon 5 is a band that’s been around for many, many years, so they understand the importance of using different approaches if they want to continue to stay relevant. I will say that by using the various Snapchat filters, it seems like they’ve definitely succeeded on that front. On a side note, and totally not relating to the song at all, I do have to mention that the filters were pretty adorable, especially with Adam Levine behind the camera!

Finally, I have to mention how cool it was seeing Adam Levine filming himself at home in the music video. Regardless of how I feel the song meshes with the video, It’s nice to see a star just living a normal life behind the scenes, singing a song with Snapchat filters just like the rest of us.

This kind of music video definitely had a very down to earth feel to it, and helped us to relate to the guys in the band in a way we maybe weren’t able to before. Although not a high-budget music video, it was still very fun to watch, proving that you don’t necessarily need to do something over-the-top for every release.
