The song “Flames” by singer/songwriter Sia and record producer David Guetta was released on March 22, 2018, and fans of both artists are absolutely loving it. The two musicians have earned millions of streams from past collaborations throughout the course of their careers, including “Titanium” and “She Wolf (Falling To Pieces),” but now, it’s so glad to see them put their heads together for “Flames,” a song about putting one foot in front of the other even when times get tough. Soon after the song’s release, the music video dropped on March 23, 2018, and it’s not quite what fans would’ve expected, considering the song’s theme.
Like the song, the music video is extremely empowering, but not in the way you may think. From start to finish, the video is action-packed and kung-fu themed. As for the storyline, the video follows three female students who get captured during their training, and let us be the ones to tell you… they are totally bad-ass!
Overall, the music video has a very retro cinematic style reminiscent of other kung-fu themed films, and even though it’s not at all what we would’ve expected, it certainly does the trick and makes us feel like we could do absolutely anything, including fighting back against abuses of power. Ultimately, the three female warriors avenge the death of their beloved teacher by battling the evil, fire bending David Guetta. Interestingly enough, while David gets a cameo of his own, Sia is not seen in the video at all, which is very much like her since she seldom likes to show her face.
All in all, the video is unique from anything we’ve ever seen and was super enjoyable to watch. The fast-paced fight scenes will keep you on your toes throughout. Check it out for yourself to see who wins the ultimate battle:
