We got the chance to talk to Micah Wilshire, about his new single “Woman” and his upcoming EP Manifesto. The jazz musician and singer-songwriter has been critically acclaimed and has done session work for Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley, and Jake Owen. With mixing credits on a Billboard #1 single by Brett Eldredge and song features in many well known movie trailers, the Nashville based musician is on a roll and making his name known in the industry.
If you had to describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your music, what would you say?
I would say melodic, soulful pop. Maybe if you put Al Green, Chet Baker and John Mayer in a blender, that would be close.
Can you tell us a little about your music journey? How did you start making music and what made you decide this is what you wanted to do?
I started playing music and singing with my family at around the age of 3. It quickly became my passion and helped me find out who I am. I moved to Nashville at 19 and started doing session work as my living, then it all just took off from there.
You recently released your new single “Woman”, can you tell us a little bit about that writing process?
“Woman” was written from the heart late at night. (Per usual) Me and an acoustic and my recording setup. It all just fell out rather quickly, love inspires.

Your EP Manifesto is coming out soon, what can we expect from the EP?
It’s a combo of most of the things I love and grew up on. I’m saving the more dirty blues vibe for next time.
What inspired the tracks on Manifesto?
They were mostly inspired by relationships, the good and the bad… life in general. Also by the classic songwriters and artists I love.
Would you say your new music is different from your earlier tracks? And, if so how?
Definitely different. More of who I am in this moment. I think music should and does change who we are.
What would you like your fans to take away from this new EP?
That it’s a view into what was feeling in the year of writing it and hopefully connect with it from what’s going on in theirs.
Anything else we look out for this year?
New music! More collabs with cool vibey artists.
