Panic! at the Disco Plays Secret #FanFirst Spotify Show

This weekend I had the pleasure of seeing Panic! at the Disco, just after the release of their sixth studio album, Pray For The Wicked. Spotify hosted a #FanFirst event in New York City on Friday, June 29th called the Temple of the Wicked.

Essentially, for the past two weeks there was a little contest where you had to reveal your “Wicked Confession.” I submitted mine, but I was chosen for being one of the top fans in the area, as Spotify’s #FanFirst deals tend to go. Four winners were selected for their confessions. Each Wicked Confession got VIP entry into the show and to their surprise, their confession was played throughout the happy hour of the event. The event was filled with things reminding you of going to church as a kid, a confession booth for you to confess your sins, at least a hundred lit candles, and the nuns that have slowly become an iconic part of this era of Panic! at the Disco.

When we walked into the room the performance was going to be in, each person’s confession was made into a beautiful stained-glass piece portraying what they each confessed to.

The performance itself was very intimate, we sat on the floor around a tiny circular stage where Brendon performed three songs, acoustically. Panic! had performed at the TODAY Show that morning, so Brendon was drained by the time he hit the stage for this acoustic show, yet he still wanted to play more for us that night (but Spotify wouldn’t let him.)

He began the set with “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” played “High Hopes” in the middle, which he forgot the lyrics to, but the crowd helped him out, and ended with “Say Amen (Saturday Night.)”

For me personally, this show was very intimate and lovely, Brendon gave me the pick he used that night and I know it’ll be as close as I get to a Panic! show for awhile. The event was beautifully executed and the performance was overall wonderful.
