Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee revealed that the band will be working on new music soon, and that news brought us to life. 

This will be their first album of fully original material in eight years. Although there isn’t a concrete plan yet, in a radio interview on WRIF 101.1 FM’s Meltdown, Lee confirmed that she has been working on new ideas despite their busy schedule between their latest release Synthesis and touring.

“I’ve got a nice little pile [of ideas] that’s been building up over the years,” she said.

We haven’t had much original material from the band since their S/T, released back in 2011. Synthesis, which was released last year, featured re-workings of their greatest hits with only a handful of new songs. The re-made songs featured orchestration and electronic beats, as opposed to their usual instrumentation.

The goth-rock band, made up of Amy Lee, bassist Tim McCord, drummer Will Hunt, lead guitarist/backing vocalist Troy McLawhorn and guitarist/background vocalist Jen Majura, are currently co-headlining the Synthesis Tour, which features a full orchestra, with violinist Lindsey Stirling.
