2018 MTV VMAs

Winners and Highlights of the 2018 MTV VMAs

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards started off with a bang, opening up with Cardi B‘s first public appearance since the birth of her daughter, Kulture.  Many people made special appearances for the performances and lots were surprised at who took home awards on Monday night.

Camila Cabello beat out a lot of big name artists, including The Carters and Drake for Video of the Year and Cardi B and Ariana Grande for Artist of the Year.

Song of the Year went to Post Malone with “rockstar” ft. 21 Savage beating out “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran and “Finesse (Remix)” by Bruno Mars and Cardi B.  For the live performance at the show Malone shocked the crowd even more by putting on an electric guitar and bringing out Aerosmith! (Seriously, nobody saw this coming!)

Best New Artist went to Cardi B who was nominated for many awards that night, while Best Collaboration went to Jennifer Lopez for “Dinero” featuring DJ Khaled and Cardi B.   J Lo also put on an amazing performance to celebrate her winning the Video Vanguard Award, where she sang her new and old hits.  She even brought Ja Rule out for a song!

More amazing performances from the night were, Ariana Grande, who performed her hit song “God is a Woman,” Nicki Minaj who did a medley of tracks off her new album “Queen,” and Logic who brought immigrant children and parents on stage out of protest during his performance of “One Day.”

Song of the Summer went to Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin with “I Like It,” which is no surprise to anyone that listens to the radio, and Grande went home with Best Pop Video for “No Tears Left To Cry.”
