You’ve probably seen Sky Katz on Disney’s Raven’s Home, but did you know that she’s a rapper too? Sky first debuted her skills on Season 11 of America’s Got Talent, and she’s been absolutely killing it ever since! Well, we got the chance to sit down with Sky and discuss her various influences, her experiences on Raven’s Home and all the exciting things she has coming up next! Keep reading for all the info. We can almost guarantee you’ll be saying “#goals” after you hear everything this girl is up to.
Let’s dive right in. Who are your biggest music influences?
I love so many artists– a lot of old hip-hop such as Biggie and Tupac. For today’s artists I love J. Cole, Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar. I listen to music from the minute I wake up and throughout the day.
What has been your favorite part about acting in Raven’s Home and what are you looking forward to with the rest of season 2?
Being on Raven’s Home has been awesome in so many ways. I’ve made a second family for myself, I’ve learned so much, especially from Raven herself, who is such a professional and has so much knowledge to share. I’m really looking forward to everyone getting to see the musical episode, which airs October 12. I think everyone’s going to adore it.
What inspired you to begin rapping?
Rapping just felt natural growing up in my house. My parents are tremendous rap fans and have been all their lives, and my older siblings are as well. There’s always hip-hop music blasting at home, in our cars, and in our headphones.
What kinds of artists do you try to emulate, if any?
I emulate artists that do it all, which is what I hope to do.

Tell us a little bit about “Fall Back.” Both the song and your experience directing the music video.
“Fall Back” is about staying grounded no matter where life takes you. I loved being able to be creative in every aspect of the video– from my wardrobe to the music and performing. This song is fun and sticks in your head after you listen to it. I’m really proud of it and people are telling me how much they like it, which makes me so happy!
Since directing the music video, would you like to continue directing videos or even films in the future?
I loved directing “Fall Back,” and now it has me hooked on directing my future music videos. We’ve been working on music in the studio and as I’m recording, my brain is already working on what type of video would be cool for each song.
Tell us about being the National Ambassador for Sunrise Association?
Sunrise is such a beautiful charity I’m so proud to be a part of it. I went to camp for so many years and loved being in nature, doing arts and crafts, playing sports, etc., so I love helping an association that allows children who are living through some tough times the ability to enjoy all of those things as well.
What’s coming up for you? New music or more TV appearances?
I’m always working on new music so I’ll be releasing some songs soon and there are still some great episodes of this season of Raven’s Home for everyone to enjoy!
Anything else you’d like to add?
I’m just so lucky to be doing what I love and have such strong, supportive fans. Keep watching because there’s great stuff ahead!
