Miley Cyrus is back with an awesome new collaboration with Mark Ronson, and we are totally here for it! This is Miley’s first release since her album Younger Now came out last year, and we can already tell that this song is definitely a hit! “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” touches on the fact that the world that we live in can be very hurtful and hard to deal with, but sometimes the worst pain truly can be a heartbreak. The song tells a story of lovers dealing with a broken relationship and uses lyrics like “This world can hurt you // It cuts you deep and leaves a scar,” to describe the feelings that she’s having.
The video for “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” is very action-packed and filled with a ton of details and references to real-life issues in today’s world. The video begins with Miley in a crazy car chase with multiple police cars and helicopters tracking her down. Throughout the video, we see Miley’s getaway car crashing through strip clubs filled with priests, shooting ranges filled with kids shooting the guns, and a store filled with people going crazy, taking things off shelves and fighting with each other.
Overall, this video definitely hints at a lot of major issues happening all over the world and, highlighting much of the corruption we hear about on daily news cycles. There are many hidden Easter eggs in the video, so we highly recommend watching it a few times to catch them all. One of the many things we noticed when we watched is that one of the cops has an ornament of Miley on a wrecking ball hanging off of his rearview mirror!
The video touches on a variety of things that go on in our society, and there are definitely many hidden references. We really love this new track from Mark and Miley, and we really love how symbolic and unique the video is.
