Many of us would agree that this year has been a pretty good one, and what better way to end the year than with a Christmas-themed carpool karaoke? Well, James Corden teamed up with Michael Bublé for a festive mashup of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” with some of your favorite musicians who made appearances on the segment throughout the year. The video features Migos, Cardi B, Paul McCartney, Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande, Barbra Streisand, Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera.
The holiday mashup is definitely a good summary of 2018’s pop music scene. From Migos’ adding their unique ad-libs on a Christmas song to Ariana Grande’s outrageously high notes, the skit was a nice way to end the year. The vocals mostly come from Shawn, Ariana, and Christina, but Migos adds their iconic sounds and Cardi B gives one of her famous “chirps.” Of course, Michael Bublé was the only one dressed in a corny holiday sweater, but the video still managed to spread the Christmas spirit. The opening begins with James not feeling in the Christmas spirit at all, but as he poofs Bublé in, it suddenly starts to feel a lot more like Christmas. Go figure!
The Late Late Show with James Corden has been hyping up fans around the world with the carpool karaoke sessions all year. This one features plenty of scenes of your favorite celebrities singing their hearts out to Darlene Love‘s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” even though, as Cardi pointed out, it wasn’t even Christmas when it was recorded. Still, she played along, and Barbra Streisand even threw in a “Happy Hanukkah!”
This carpool karaoke tradition is a lovely way to celebrate the holidays, and it makes it feel particularly personal having your favorite musicians wish you well to hold you over until 2019. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check out this year’s Christmas Carpool Karaoke HERE:
