ICYMI, Julia Michaels recently released the music video for her song “What a Time,” which is from her EP, Inner Monologue, Pt. 1. The song features One Direction‘s Niall Horan and it’s an emotional one for sure. In total, the EP consists of six songs, and “What a Time” is just one of the two collaborations. The other is called “Anxiety,” which features Selena Gomez.
Niall and Julia have become pretty good friends — especially considering Julia joined him on his Flicker Tour last year, so we’re super excited that they’ve finally collaborated. Although Niall doesn’t make an appearance in the music video, Julia does an amazing job in showcasing all the emotions the track evokes.
For those of you who haven’t yet heard the song, it’s about a romance that has fallen apart and reminiscing on better times. The video really does a great job at capturing these emotions. It opens up with Julia back-to-back with her love interest in an apartment that’s overflowing with beautiful flowers and greenery.
Throughout the video, Julia continues to get more emotional as the reality hits that their relationship is crumbling and that the good times were just a lie. Towards the end, we see her crying and throwing some of the scattered flowers around the apartment out of frustration. The video then comes full circle at the very end with the pair sitting back-to-back once again.
We don’t know about you, but we love how this video is so simple, yet so aesthetically pleasing. We also love how how raw and real all of the emotions are. This is definitely a video that anyone who has been in a situation like this can relate to, and overall, it’s just visually stunning.
