As if the original wasn’t good enough, Lauv and Troye Sivan just released a stripped down version of “i’m so tired.” The original track is an infectious, dreamy pop ballad, but the stripped down version encapsulates the true emotion of the song. The new version features a never before heard bridge that was originally recorded for the first version, but didn’t quite make the cut.
The new version, however, includes the bridge that the original song did away with, and honestly, it totally works. Recording live in studio, the two dreamy vocalists intertwine melodic lines before melding into seamless harmonies. The single keyboard accompanies the voices in a subtle manner, but is enough to bring the song together.
The new version was shot live at Henson Studios in Los Angeles. The 23-year-old “YOUTH” crooner gave some info on the track, saying, “I’ve had the insane joy of playing this song live now for the last few weeks and have never felt a ground swell like this for a song I’m on before.” Aw!
although the original track is emotional, this stripped down verse encapsulates a more pure melancholy. It’s refreshing to hear and it sounds like an honest recount of how hard it is to be lonely. Hearing the single voice of Lauv in the first verse become intertwined with Sivan’s in the second is almost symbolic of the hope of one voice becoming two. This is the type of song that we think benefits from being stripped down. Sometimes the emotion comes through more purely when musicians can just sing and show off their skill rather than overproducing a song to overcompensate for mediocrity.
Not only is the song gorgeous, but the two star in a simple video while singing the track live. No frills, no gimmicks — just two voices in a simple room. Check it out HERE:
Well, what do you think? We told you the stripped down version was worth the listen!
