Steve Aoki and Monsta X Join Forces for English Remix of “Play It Cool”

Steve Aoki is no stranger to the world of K-Pop. The hitmaker, producer and DJ has previously teamed up with K-Pop legends BTS for a few songs. He has once again decided to give us an international collaboration, and this time it’s with South Korean group Monsta X.

The duo teamed up to release an English version of “Play It Cool.” The original Korean version is featured on the group’s most recent album Take.2 We Are Here.

“After the great success of the Korean version, we can’t wait to see the responses to the English version from all over the world. This collab is a gift from us to our ‘monbebe’ for always taking care of us and keeping it cool. Thank you,” said Monsta X in a joint statement.

Aoki expressed his excitement for working with the band as well.

“Monsta X is one of those powerhouse groups that sets the bar very high,” Aoki said of his collaborators. “Their voices stay with you long after the song is over, and on this track they sang so profoundly that all we had to do was focus on the story we were telling. I really believe in today’s world that we have redefined what love and relationships look like, so I think that this song is one that many people can relate to.”

Whether in you’re listening in Korean or English, the song is most definitely a smash. Just like “Waste It On Me” by Aoki and BTS, it’s great exposure for the K-Pop world as it extends to the global stage and encourages new listeners. Fans can bop to the new track as they not-so-patiently wait for the music video to drop on March 27.
