The sun is finally out and hopefully here to stay. You know what that means? Summer songs! Martin Garrix just dropped a feel-good song we can’t wait to vibe to poolside. Aptly named “Summer Days,” Garrix’s single is a fun collaboration featuring Patrick Stump and Macklemore. The Fall Out Boy singer brings a soulful vibe while Macklemore supplies flirty bars. Since the song has high replay value, the unlikely trio might have created the song of the summer.
Musically, “Summer Days” has tropical beats that mesh well with Patrick Stump’s falsetto in the background. With smooth funky guitars in the chorus, it is hard not to bop along. Through Macklemore’s verses, there is more of a classic trap beat reminiscent of some of Garrix’s other work. Vocally, the rock singer and rapper seem to balance each other out well.
Lyrically, Stump and Macklemore sing of a summer fling. The song is fun and flirty. It’s easy to picture yourself in the song falling in love on the beach or driving in the car with the top down. Although the content of the lyrics isn’t necessarily deep, that might make it perfect to qualify as a summer hit. Basically, it’s great to sing along to and sometimes that’s all you need.
If you’re ready for an endless summer of fun jams and relaxing on the beach, “Summer Days” is the single for you. Although it was released on April 25, we think it’s never too early to get ready for summer. “Summer Days” is the perfect collaboration of Patrick Stump’s soulful voice, Macklemore’s clever lines, and Garrix’s creative mixing. Maybe we could even get an interesting crossover tour out of this collab? If not, we would love to see these artists work together again because they are making magic.
