Born to entertain, ROYSE’s powerful vocals give you exactly what you need to make your day a little bit better. Fortunately, we got the chance to catch up with the newcomer about the music scene and her second single, “Madness.” Plus, she clued is in on what fans can look out for in the future. Seriously, keep reading!
Thanks so much for talking to us today! Now let’s just start with some basics, how did you get into music and when did you know you wanted to be a singer?
I’ve always been singing and writing songs. I joke that I came out of the womb singing, not crying! I think music has just always been something I’ve had to do.
If you had to describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before, what would you say?
Take us through the typical songwriting process with you. Where do you usually gain your inspiration for songs?
I usually write from the pain that I’ve been through — or just anything I’m going through. I feel very lucky that my outlet to how I’m feeling and my emotions is writing songs, and I get to do that all the time.
We heard that you grew up in Texas and Georgia. Has that influenced your sound or lyrics in any way?
I definitely think so! I think being from the south has instilled a lot of who I am! For example, I talk to strangers way too often because in the south, you can talk to anyone and that’s not weird. But now, living in L.A., it can get weird.
What do you hope fans take away from your music?
I hope they know they’re not alone. I had many lonely times and music helped me cope with that. I hope my music inspires people to never give up. There’s so many times I wanted to give up and I’m so thankful I kept fighting and pushing past the storms. Also, know you’re loved!
How does this new single differ from your debut single, “Intention?”
“Intention” was me kind of sharing my heart with people saying, “You know I get scared to be vulnerable and real sometimes,” Where “Madness” is me saying, “hey this world is crazy. Life is crazy, but I’ll stay in the madness with you!”
The lyrics to your new single, “Madness,” talk about “staying in the madness” with someone. What does the mean to you and what do you hope fans take away from this song?
I actually wrote this song about my best friend when she was moving! I hope people take away that no matter where life takes them, no matter the ups or the downs, I’ll stay in the madness with you.
When you’re not making music what do you do for fun?
I love games!! I love having game nights with friends and honestly binge watching anything and everything to do with Star Wars!
What can fans look forward to this year? Anything you’re super excited for?
Oooo yesss! I’ll be releasing lots of new music! I’m releasing a new song super soon! Also, I just got off of a tour with High School Nation and will be doing more live shows hopefully soon!
Any other messages for the fans?
I hope my music inspires you, makes you feel loved and gives you a little joy today in this crazy world!
