Iggy Azalea is back and better than ever, and in her new single she shows that she isn’t here to play games. Last week, the Australian-born rapper dropped the track “Started” with an enticing video to match. This will be the second single off of her highly-anticipated second album set to release this year.
The track itself is a banger, touching on her come up and her indifferent attitude towards her haters. The 28-year-old rapper certainly makes a statement with her lyricism, rapping, “Do you hate that you love me or do you love that you hate me? // All you b*tches be bitin’, I hope you don’t give me rabies // You can say what you want about me as long as you pay me // I’m just tryna get them Ms and I ain’t talkin’ Slim Shady.” The music video is, honestly, just as iconic.
During the opening the scene, Iggy can be seen at the altar with an elderly groom, as she is obviously playing a gold digger with a huge ring on her finger. The lyrics match perfectly with the vibe of the song as she raps, “I started from the bottom and now I’m rich // I got in my bag and I ain’t looked back since.”
Soon after, she is in the pool and strutting throughout her newly acquired mansion before she gets the idea to kill off her elderly husband for the insurance money. The video ends with her doing “renovations” to the home and throwing a huge party in the mansion.
