Dog Blood Is Back With Electrifying EP, Turn Off The Lights

It’s official: Dog Blood is back and better than ever!

The American/German DJ duo comprised of Skrillex and Boys Noize has had fans itching to hear new material since the first reunion show took place back in March at the Buku Music + Art Project. The band was quick to deliver its single, “Turn Off The Lights,” as well as the promise of an EP.

Proving that all good things take time, the bass behemoths finally dropped their highly anticipated four-track anthology Turn Off The Lights late last week — and it certainly does not disappoint.

Despite a six-year hiatus, the ever-talented twosome still managed to keep its unique junction of techno and bass music entirely intact. Dog Blood also recruited guest collaborations with Otira, X&G and Josh Pan.

The EP opens with “Break Law,” which samples sounds of an exotic chant and descends into a hypnotic hype beat that perfectly melds the worlds of Skrillex and Boys Noize. Up next is “4 Mind,” the collaborative work featuring Josh Pan and X&G. In addition to the sample of C’hantal‘s “The Realm,” the track also encompasses rave sirens, bouncy stomps and intriguing industrial jangles. “Kokoe” with Otira embodies more of an acid house vibe with a subtle touch of Daft Punk. The EP then closes with the previously released single “Turn Off The Lights,” which embodies everything there is to love about electronic dance music and so much more.
