It’s been two years since rapper G-Eazy has released a studio album and fans may have just gotten a hint of what’s to come on his next project after he dropped a three-track EP last week.
Since his 2017 album The Beautiful and Damned, the Bay Area rapper has released a three-track EP, The Vault and a multitude of singles, featuring artists such as J Balvin, Vic Mensa, Olivia O’Brien and Drew Love. He has also worked with Blueface, ALLBLACK and YG on “West Coast;” Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj on “Wobble Up;” and most recently, Carnage and Wiz Khalifa on “Wait For Me,” which all have gained millions of streams.
This new EP, titled B-Sides, gives fans a peek at what is, possibly, to come on the new album. With the Oakland native staying true to his sound and P-LO-produced vibes, the EP starts with “Bang,” featuring Tyga, who takes over the hook that’s sure to make the tune the next summer banger.
“Spectacular Now” is the second single, although much calmer, as G-Eazy (a.k.a. Gerald Gillum) opens up on the frustration of the music industry and the constant comparison to others, while stating his realization of leaving behind loved ones for the sake of success. He also speaks on the recent death of iconic rapper Nipsey Hussle and learning the importance of living in the moment with the verse, “We lost Nipsey and I cried 100 tears in my room / Let’s celebrate our heroes now, not just when they’re gone too soon.” The final single on the project, “It’s Eazy,” goes back to his upbeat P-LO-inspired roots, flaunting his lifestyle and wealth.
With this tease, there’s no doubt his upcoming album will be a big hit. Make sure to check out the EP and stream on all available platforms!
