Indie-pop band Half Alive is really killing the game right now. This week the band released an exuberant new single titled “Pure Gold.” The song comes paired with a brightly-colored, high energy music video, which is nothing short of mesmerizing. It features the trio hopping and leaping about, as well as contorting their arms between burst of bright colors.
After the massive success of their single “Still Feel,” which amassed over 24 million views on YouTube, they continue to pump out catchy indie-pop tracks, and “Pure Gold” is no exception. This latest single opens with a thin little synth bit before expanding into a sing-along section of “oohs” and “aahs.” The energy of the track is intoxicating.

It continues with cryptic, yet easy to remember lyrics. “Oh no, oh no, a beauty to hold // So close, so close, I’m recognizing,” singer Josh Taylor lightly croons. The song falls into a dreamy-synth breakdown with the word “Gold” circulating over and over in our ears. This track is just a plain earworm that we can’t wait to hear more of this summer.
“Pure Gold” will be featured on the group’s debut album Now, Not Yet. The LP will also feature some of their other released tracks, like “Still Feel” and “RUNAWAY.”
Even with a small discography, the band puts on an incredible live show. The unique dancing that they feature in their music videos comes alive on stage. On a smaller stage, they really know how to make the space their own.
Half Alive will be going out on tour starting Wednesday, July 31. The group will also make stops at festivals this summer, including Lollapalooza and Outside Lands. Now, Not Yet is set to drop Friday, August 9, and we can’t wait to see what else this Long Beach group has in store for us.
