Man Arrested at Taylor Swift’s Beachfront Mansion Is Being Held Without Bail

An Iowa man fully intended to break in to Taylor Swift‘s beachfront mansion in Rhode Island. The man traveled all the way from Iowa to Rhode Island with a backpack full of burglary tools and was arrested not far from Swift’s residence.

The 30-year-old “The Archer” singer has had her fair share of stalker incidents. There have been 10 documented stalkers of the famous starlet dating back to 2012. The 32-year-old Iowan, David Page Liddle, is only the latest in a string of scary men who try to get up and close with the singer by any means necessary.

The Sun of Westerly reports that Liddle was held at a court hearing Thursday after authorities said there were concerns he was a flight risk. He had previously been accused of stalking the singer. Currently, he is being held on $10,000 bail after his arrest on July 19. He is charged with possession of a weapon other than a firearm and possession of burglary tools.

“He has a history — security guards at the home told us that he was already on a watch list because there were concerns he could pose a threat,” said Shawn Lacey, Westerly Police Chief, on Monday.

According to police and court reports, Liddle was arrested around 9 p.m. after Watch Hill residents reported seeing a suspicious man at a picnic table near the boatyard, which is located near Pasadena Avenue off Watch Hill Road. Officers discovered that he was in possession of more than 30 lock picks, burglary tools including a crowbar and window rake, rubber gloves and an aluminum baseball bat.

Lacey says Liddle told officers he was looking to “catch up” with Swift, that he knew her personally, and that she had promised to help him jump-start his singing career. The police said security personnel confirmed that he had approached other properties belonging to Swift in the past and Liddle had been issued warnings not to return or to try and contact her in any way, which led the courts to hold him in remand. Liddle’s defense attorney had no comment.

Liddle is due back in court on August 7 for a competency hearing and the case has been referred to Washington County Superior Court for a felony screening in October.

Luckily, Swift was unharmed.
