On October 3, Maren Morris dropped a beautiful remake of her newest hit “The Bones.” The hit song has been remade a few times, but what’s special about it is that it includes Hozier. Morris and Hozier had previously talked about how much they adored each other’s music and how they feel so honored to collaborate. Morris first commented on Hozier’s addition to the song by saying, “Hozier’s soul and vulnerability is so arresting and fit so well with the foundational theme of my song ‘The Bones.’ I feel so grateful to have him on it.” Hozier responded with, “Something of love’s enduring nature really comes through on ‘The Bones,’ it’s a gorgeous song. I was delighted to be asked to sing with the Maren Morris on this track — she is such a wonderful artist.”
Hozier first teased it on his Twitter October 2 with a video of him playing the guitar and singing “The Bones.” Morris retweeted it and said, “This is absolutely stunning.”

These posts were one of the few posts by each artist. Morris further tweeted and posted on Instagram throughout last week leading up to the release. Her posts included new artwork for the single as well as snippets to excite fans:
The remake starts out like the original song, but quickly turns into something beautiful and new. The familiar chorus, mixed with Hozier’s low vocal tone and softer sound, creates the perfect harmonious blend. Hands-down the most stunning part of the duet is the bridge. In the end, their harmonies collide and it makes the perfect duet to an already perfect song.
Exciting news for Morris: her album (with the original version), Girl, has helped her get nominated for six CMA Awards. Hopefully her duet of “The Bones” will boost her to the top.
