Following the success of their previous single “Nice Guys“, Easy Life returns with yet another catchy tune: an appetizing serving of “Sangria” featuring London musician Arlo Parks. The British five-piece also released an official music video for the collaboration with the poet/singer and it’s as intriguing as the song itself.

The music video kicks off with a shot of the titular drink in a pitcher, which, according to a tweet from Easy Life, was supposed to be consumed by vocalist Murray Matravers. Luckily for us, the alternate video concept was just as strange (and alluring). It’s basically a three-minute awkward school photo shoot, but with a silky smooth soundtrack. It also doubles as a lyric video with the words displayed at the top of the screen for your reading pleasure.
The mellow song benefits from a blend of disarmingly honest lyrics and an addictive chorus guaranteed to be stuck in your head for days. The track’s ultimately about emotional dependency and missing someone in a borderline unhealthy fashion. In case you intended to keep count, “Sangria” is the very first word uttered by Murray and it’s only mentioned once.
The British band and the “Cola” singer are two of the most enticing up-and-coming UK acts at the moment. Arlo’s velvety crooning perfectly complements Murray’s sleek delivery, resulting in a soulful R&B/hip-hop hybrid. This collaboration was a match made in music heaven — a perfect blend of charisma, sincerity and elegance. The latter comes courtesy of Parks’ standout solo verse in the final minute of the song.
Easy Life is set to bring their Junk Food Tour to North America early next year with their Junk Food mixtape dropping just a month prior. Tickets and tour dates can be found on their official website.
