When hits like “Ocean Eyes” and “Bellyache” emerged a couple of years ago, everyone wanted to know who this chick was. She had funky dance moves, a wild-child persona and a voice with plenty of charm and unique flair. LA native Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas came on to the scene and created a fan base. Their pop/electronic music is awesome, fun, incredibly weird and bold.
The release of her much-anticipated album when we fall asleep, where do we go? made Billie and her brother powerhouses in music production. Billie’s voice, humble personality and talent are what make her incredible and stand above the rest.
Earlier this year, she released a new single, “everything i wanted” — a smooth track with sweet lyrics and a melody that brings good vibes. Last week, she released the music video for the track, which she directed. Billie for the win! Let’s take a look…
The first thing we see is a shout-out to her brother that says, “no matter the circumstance, we always have and always will be there for each other.” So cute! (Because famous brothers and sisters fight, too!)
In this video, we’re taken for the ride — literally. Billie’s in the driver’s seat with Finneas as the co-pilot, which is fitting, as they collaborate on their success! They’re together, cruisin’ along city streets at night then beach shores in the early dawn. They’re calm and collected, letting the journey distract them from the destination.
Then the car goes from driving on the sands to submerging in the ocean, while Billie’s gently reciting the lyrics, “As long as I am here, no one can hurt you.” Despite the sink, they’re together and seem un-bothered, smiling at each other. The piano and sweet beats of the melody remain, eventually consumed by the darkness at the end of the video.
A simple plot, yet a powerful concept — the video honors their friendship. No matter the fame and fortune, and no matter the chaos, they have each other and will never forget where their career started.
Take a look at the video below and get everything you wanted… and more.
