Leon Bridges and John Mayer Team Up for a Sexy Quarantine Single Called “Inside Friend”

Now, there is truly a song for everything. Leon Bridges and John Mayer came up with a tune for your social distancing at-home date night. The two singer-songwriters may have just popped out the most soulful quarantine song yet. It’s called “Inside Friend,” and it’s soft and sexy. With smooth vocals and warm guitars, it sets the mood for a perfect evening. Moreover, it is one of the best, yet most unexpected, collaborations of 2020 thus far.

“Inside Friend” captures the feeling of a perfect night in. Whether it’s a social distancing fling or a casual night with your beloved S/O, the single lyrically paints a picture. “Come through with your hair still wet // Yoga pants, sweatshirt on the bed // Heart heavy and your week been crazy.” These men know that everyone can have a good date night, even in casual clothes.

Even when going out is an option, sometimes nothing makes you feel closer to someone you like than a fun night in. The lyrics even suggest that an “Inside Friend” can be temporary. Maybe if you do so safely, they’ll help make social distancing feel less lonely.

Not only is “Inside Friend” topically relevant, but it is the collaboration we didn’t know we needed. Bridges and Mayer are both masters of soulful love songs. Together, their voices make listeners swoon. Their vocal harmonies are beautifully relaxing, making it the perfect tune for a rainy April day. Additionally, Mayer’s fantastic guitar work shines through, showing he is adaptive when it comes to instrumental style.

If you are looking for the soundtrack to your indoor date night, definitely hit play on “Indoor Friend.” This soulful single can easily go on repeat. This song has us looking forward to even more social distancing collabs in the coming weeks. And if we’re lucky, we might even see more of Bridges and Mayer working together in the future.
