The members started off by talking about the ways they’re staying safe during this time. Hyungwon says that he refrains from going outside unless “absolutely necessary” and that he only goes to the group’s dorm and practice room. Member Kihyun also adds that he has hand sanitizer on him at all times and that he washes his hands a lot more now. Group leader Shownu adds that the members have stopped sharing food — something that they were used to doing.
Quarantine isn’t stopping the boys from enjoying simpler pleasures, however. Joohoney is spending the extra downtime watching K-dramas, especially Itaewon Class.
In terms of living arrangements, all six members have lived together since they first became a group in 2014. Minhyuk added, “We’ve been living together since we were trainees, so it’s not boring at all and actually pretty fun.”
Even with being in quarantine, Monsta X is still busy. The group just released a music video for “You Can’t Hold My Heart” from their English debut album, All About Luv. The release made Monsta X one of only four K-pop acts to make the Billboard top ten.
Minhyuk explained that he hopes the video brings happiness and clarity to fans during this difficult time. He stated, “We all live with various emotions such as happiness and sadness. We hope you cherish the emotions you feel at this moment and share all your feelings with the people around you.”
The group was set to embark on a North American tour in support of All About Luv, kicking off in June in Minneapolis. However, there has been no word yet from the group, their management at Starship Entertainment or Live Nation about potential cancellations or postponement of the tour.
Near the end of the interview, Monsta X discusses plans for a new Korean album in May. Rapper I.M said that he’s writing a lot for the new record and that the group is putting a lot of effort into it.
