Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj React to Earning Their First No. 1 With “Say So” Remix

Doja Cat took TikTok by storm when she released her hit single “Say So” last year. But at the start of this month, the artist joined forces with rapper Nicki Minaj to drop a remix. And now, that remix has become their first-ever No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.

That’s right. Nicki and Doja cat were in steep competition for the No. 1 spot, but ultimately beat out Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncรฉ, who recently released their remix of Megan’s “Savage.” But before you get any ideas, no, there isn’t any bad blood between these fierce females.

“Obviously, women have been pitted against each other, and this is f–king so not that,” Doja cat said during an Instagram Live on Monday, May 11, confirming there’s no drama. “We’ve climbed over that, and that’s cool. That’s f–king cool. That’s cooler than anything that I could f–king imagine in this realm.”

Doja then went on to explain how grateful she is for the fans who’ve supported the remix enough to make it go No. 1. “I’ve never in my life seen anything like that ever, as far as fan support,” she said. “I’ve spent more time recently on Twitter and things like that because of what’s been going on with the remix and everything. I’ve never seen this much support from any group. What a f–king beautiful bunch of people. It’s really, really, really cool.”

But she’s not the only one stoked over this accomplishment. Nicki took to Instagram today to thank her fan base for all their support and earning her the first Hot 100 No. 1 she’s ever had. “Can’t thank you guys enough for going so hard this past week to help us make history,” she wrote. “I saw it all. You’ll never understand how much you uplift me with the overwhelming love & support you continue to show.”

The rap sensation continued by reminding her Barbz just how much she loves and appreciates them. “I love you so much. Like so much. So much,” she wrote. Nicki also thanked Doja Cat for including her on the remix. “Dear @dojacat, thanks for trusting me with your baby,” she added. “Hope I lived up to your expectations. You’re so extremely talented & so deserving of this moment.”

In addition to holding the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100, the “Say So” remix is also No. 1 on the Hot R&B Songs chart, the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, the Pop Songs chart, and the Digital Song Sales Chart. Minaj is also the first artist in history to have a No. 1 on every song chart. We’re not crying… you are!
