Many things have been surprisingly thrown at us lately this year, but for us, the ultimate surprise is the collaboration between Ashnikko and Grimes<.
Ashnikko’s fans have many speculations about the song’s meaning. The most popular theory at the moment is that her best friend slept with her boyfriend. The lyrics are vague, allowing the listener to apply these lyrics to any situation rather than this particular theory. Portions of Grimes’ lyrics refer to one of Shakespeare’s famous monologues from Richard III, when she sings, “This is the winter of my discontent
Everything else is irrelevant.”
The track itself has a consistent beat produced by Ebenezer throughout the track. Ashnikko, known for her song “Stupid,” delivers her lines with the same intensity while simultaneously allowing her feelings to be raw. Grimes shows her vocals in a subtle, mysterious way by whispering her lyrics after Ashnikko’s chorus. There aren’t many specifics behind the story of the song; however, there is clear rage that Ashnikko carries throughout this song.
