ATTN, Barbz — we have some exciting news! Nicki Minaj is pregnant, and she took to Instagram this morning (July 20) to announce the exciting news.
Yep! The rapper shared her joy and excitement with the world by sharing a series of photos showing off her baby bump. And in true Nicki fashion, the photos included elaborate costumes, sky-high heels, and lots of vibrantly colored hair. Even with all of those things, what stuck out was certainly her adorable new baby bump. See?
“#Preggers,” Minaj wrote alongside the first photo. But she was nowhere near done posting. Soon after came two more photos of the rapper holding onto her belly. “Love. Marriage. Baby carriage,” she wrote on the most recent photo. “Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes.”
This pregnancy with husband Kenneth Petty is Minaj’s first, making the news even more thrilling for the pair. Not to mention, Minaj has always dreamed of becoming a mother. “[My biggest fear] is that I’ll become so consumed with work that I’ll forget to live my personal life to the fullest,” she told Complex in 2014. “If I’m done with my fifth album and I don’t have a child by then, no matter how much money I have, I would be disappointed, as a woman, because I feel like I was put here to be a mother.”
The rapper also expressed to Complex at the time that she would be married before having a baby. “I definitely will be married before I have my baby,” she told the mag. “I want to make sure I do it in that order. I’ve always felt like that since I was young; my mother always put that in my head.”
As you can tell, Minaj has checked all her previous boxes, having married Petty in October 2019. Congratulations to the happy couple! It’s sure to be an exciting year ahead.
