Selena Gomez is as big of a Swiftie as all of us right now.
The pop starlet shared her love for her best friend Taylor Swift and her brand new album, Folklore, on her Instagram Story. She captioned a screenshot of her phone playing “Cardigan,” the lead single off of the album and wrote, “She’s done it again @TaylorSwift.”
The “Rare” singer was also spotted by paparazzi rocking some of Swift’s new merch ahead of the album’s release.

Gomez and Swift have been close for about thirteen years and have continuously supported each other throughout their careers. The release of folklore is no exception.
The 30-year-old “Lover” singer announced her surprise eighth studio album, Folklore, on her social media channels 24 hours ahead of its release. Within 24 hours, the album had sold 1.3 million copies (including physical, digital and streaming sales). It also broke the global record for first-day album streams on Spotify by a female artist, with 80.6 million streams, and became “the most-streamed pop album on Apple Music in 24 hours,” with 35.47 million streams, in addition to setting the U.S. and worldwide Amazon Music indie/alternative streaming record. The album is on track to be the biggest debut of 2020 (the record was previously held by Juice WRLD and his posthumous album, Legends Never Die).
Swift described the album-making process in a statement on her social media channels, saying, “In isolation, my imagination has run wild and this album is the result, a collection of songs and stories that flowed like a stream of consciousness. Picking up a pen was my way of escaping into fantasy, history and memory. I’ve told these stories to the best of my ability with all the love, wonder and whimsy they deserve. Now it’s up to you to pass them down.”
At the time of publishing, Folklore has a score of 94 (universal acclaim) on Metacritic. It is the singer’s highest-rated album to date.
Swift debuted the “Cardigan” music video at midnight on Friday, July 24, at the same time that the album dropped in full. You can watch the video below if you missed it.
