Country duo Dan + Shay are well-known for their emotional and raw songs like “Tequila” and “Speechless,” which were released in 2018, and fans are in for another emotional roller coaster with their latest release, “I Should Probably Go To Bed.” This song is a post-breakup song and is sure to put anyone who hears it in their feels.
While the duo had to cancel their tour, like many other artists, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they took time to reconnect with their roots and create new songs that fans will love. In regards to “I Should Probably Go To Bed,” they spoke about how Shay started playing the piano and instantly made the decision to record in their makeshift studio. Dan also said that the last part of the song was created fresh while recording, making it that much cooler, and fans can feel the emotion.
The undertones of the song remind fans of their previous hit, “Tequila,” with a strong piano background and the duo’s breathtaking harmonies. Not only musically speaking, but lyrically the song is relatable and emotional, making it a signature Dan + Shay song. With lyrics like “So I should probably go to bed (Ah) // I should probably turn off my phone // I should quit while I’m ahead (Ah) // I should probably leave you alone // ‘Cause I know in the mornin’ (In the mornin’) // I’ll be callin’ (I’ll be callin’) // Sayin’ “sorry” for the things I said // So I, yeah, I should probably go to bed,” fans can feel the emotion behind the heartbreak.
Needless to say, fans are being put in their feels by the new song, and while it’s an emotional message, it’s still a huge hit for the duo right now. Fans are hoping for more new music from the duo, but for now, they’re taking in all the emotion that “I Should Probably Go To Bed” brings.
