3.Glass Animals –“Heat Waves”
This song has us welcoming the final “heat waves” of summer! Glass Animals, the psychedelic pop group behind 2016’s How To Be A Human Being, was communicating via texts and FaceTime to conclude their latest album, Dreamland (which dropped last Friday!), in the midst of the lockdown. The video for the fourth single “Heat Waves” was shot in June, showing producer and frontman Dave Bayley trekking concert equipment down the street. “The Heat Waves video,” says Bayley, “ is a love letter to live music and the culture and togetherness surrounding it. It was filmed at peak lockdown in my neighborhood in East London by the lovely people who live around me, just using their phones.”
At the end of the video, Bayley arrives at an empty venue, with televisions on the stage showing the other bandmates, symbolizing unity & connection during this time apart. The video is a perfect depiction of artists’ refusing to quit despite restrictions.
