Kanye West Congratulates Kamala Harris on Her VP Nomination

Over this past weekend, Kanye West took to Twitter to congratulate U.S. Senator Kamala Harris on being the Democratic Party’s vice presidential nominee. He wrote, “I know my mom and Kamala Harris would have been friends … congratulations on being the democratic Vice President nominee ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ … all love and respect from the future president ๐Ÿ•Š Itโ€™s an honor to run against you.” It’s sort of a sweet idea to think of how his late mother, Donda, and Harris would interact throughout the presidential race. The lovefest doesn’t last though, as he took a jab at his opponents by calling himself “the future president.” It definitely gave us some “Imma let you finish, but…” vibes.

The rapper and fashion designer is looking to add Commander in Chief to his list of titles. This tweet is really addressing the fact that West is going all-in on this race. He’s been working to get on the bill for multiple states recently. According to Vulture, “As of Friday, Westโ€™s campaign is officially on the ballot in four states, Arkansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Vermont โ€” with another half dozen pending.” To get on a ballot, he needs a certain amount of signatures based on the state’s discretion. If he does not get on the ballot, he still has the option to be written in. Don’t be surprised if he gets on most of them.

West is not backing Donald Trump anymore, and his run is not just some ploy to split votes from Joe Biden despite rumors from both Republican and Democratic parties. The upcoming debates between the three of them will be very interesting to say the least. To prepare, we suggest throwing a bag of popcorn in the microwave, add some butter, and enjoy the show. Harris has not responded to the tweet, nor has Biden.
