Rising country star Morgan Wallen has finally released his latest viral TikTok song, “7 Summers,” but the single isn’t quite what fans had imagined when it dropped August 14. “7 Summers” quickly gained fan attention when a snippet of the song started to go around on the popular video app, creating a whole series of what life would be like after the release (i.e. being all in your feels, crying about lost love, etc.). However, the hype may have made the expectations for the song a bit too high for the actual release.
Many fans were upset about the song because, with the initial release of the snippet on Instagram and TikTok, it played a much more mellow and acoustic sounding version. When “7 Summers” actually released, though, it had a more pop-country sound, which was not what fans were expecting. Check out some TikTok of fan reactions to the song:

But, thankfully all fan reactions weren’t negative. Many fans actually still stan the song even though it isn’t what they expected. While the music sounds a little different, the lyrics are the same, and it is still an excellent song to listen to to get you in your feelings. The lyrics that started it all were: “Yeah, you used to talk about // Getting even further South // Somewhere where the summer lasted all year ’round // Probably got a big ol’ diamond on your hand right now // Maybe a baby or a couple by now // Long driveway to a big white house,” and now we’re all thinking about a boy from east Tennessee.
