After three years since the war-drama Dunkirk was released, Harry Styles is finding himself back in the world of acting after being cast in the new film, Don’t Worry, Darling. It’s no surprise that the multi-faceted artist would be dipping back into acting after his worldwide arena tour was put on hold due to COVID-19. With little being known about the return of the music industry, this is the perfect opportunity to try new things.
His return to Hollywood finds himself in the hands of an all-star cast, including Florence Pugh, Chris Pine and Dakota Johnson. Styles will be replacing Shia Labeouf who dropped out due to “scheduling conflicts.”
The project is also in high regard to Olivia Wilde and her rapidly growing portfolio. Back in August, it was announced she had been given the opportunity to direct a super-secret (but spidery) project for Marvel after her smash directorial hit Booksmart caused her to be the “it girl” of the moment.
Little is known about Don’t Worry, Darling’s plot, even though a first draft of the script can be found on Reddit. It’s been reported that Olivia Wilde and co. will be rewriting the screenplay from the ground-up, but the themes will stay the same. It’s been marketed as a psycho-thriller set in the 1950s. Other media sites claimed the film will follow Pugh as an “unhappy housewife who slowly begins to question her own sanity when she starts to notice strange occurrences in her small, utopian community in the California desert.”
Harry was claimed to take on the role of her “picture perfect” husband who “loves her dearly, but is hiding a dark secret from her.”
These roles were confirmed late Friday night when Wilde, herself, posted about the film on both Twitter and Instagram, including two photos of Florence and Harry with the caption, “Jack and Alice. Very proud to work with these fine folks. #DontWorryDarling”
Production is set to start in the Fall though the release date is unknown. With Harry Styles being cast as one of the leads in Don’t Worry, Darlingm it’s only created even more buzz for the film, and it’s looking to be one of the most highly anticipated titles for whenever movie theaters open to the wider public again.
