Zayn Finally Drops New Music With Single “Better”

The wait for a new Zayn Malik song is over! The former boyband member just dropped “Better,” a lowkey, R&B song about trying your best to save a relationship on the rocks.

“Can we save tears in your eyes? // I’m making you cry // Why wait to hate, can we save love?” he pleads over simple production. Fans speculate the song is about his somewhat tempestuous relationship with model Gigi Hadid. The two just had a baby girl together; the song was released just a day after the couple announced the birth of their child.

On September 23, Malik tweeted, “Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful…to try put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, and thankful for the life we will have together,” he tweeted, along with a photo of his daughter’s fingers wrapped around his own.

“Better” is the first single to come off his upcoming third album, which Malik has said is his “most personal project to date.” A statement released about the album also said, “With total creative reign on his third album, ZAYN is making the music he has always wanted to.”

And if that statement is true, we’re really excited for what’s going to come next from him.

This is the first music Zayn has released since Icarus Falls in 2018. Most recently, he collaborated with Shaed on “Trampoline” and Sabrina Claudio on “Rumors,” both released last fall.

The video released along with the song was directed by Ryan Hope, who also directed Malik’s ‘iT’s YoU’ video. The video shows the singer getting dressed while being spied on by a mysterious man.
