Megan Thee Stallion Saves 2020 With Good News

Last week, hip-hop artist Megan Thee Stallion released her latest record, Good News.Upon its release, Megan wrote, “In the midst of everything going on in the world and with me, this album will be fun, exciting and some GOOD NEWS.” Released on November 20th, Good News brings out Megan’s best and clearly defines her voice as both an artist and as an activist.

The Houston-born rapper touches on recent calls for racial and social justice after the murders of Black Americans, like Breonna Taylor, by police officers. She briefly calls into question the lack of justice for Breonna Taylor and other black women in her introduction, “Shots Fired.” In addition, Megan briefly addresses the shooting incident she and Tory Lanez was involved in this past July. She shuts down any stigma regarding the situation and ends the conversation in these tracks.

On “Body,” Megan Thee Stallion brags about her desirability, being the envy of other women, as well as the fantasy of their men. It serves as the fourth single to Good News, and dropped the night of the album’s release alongside its music video. The track features a rapid-paced instrumental built around a sample of a woman moaning. The music video consists of Megan dancing around, surrounded by a number of women who strive to promote body positivity.

After she released the music video snippet, Megan announced that she, “got some sexy bodies in the video.” Her ability to rap about body positivity and a woman’s desirability is what crowned Megan the best Rap/Hip-Hop song at the American Music Awards, where she also promoted “Body.”

Finally, it wouldn’t be a Megan Thee Stallion album without her hit classics, “Girls in the Hood” and “Savage Remix” featuring everyone’s favorite queen, Beyonce.

Megan is surely 2020’s biggest rapper and biggest hit, and we’re excited to see if Megan has any more Good News to save this year. Check out her album now available on all streaming platforms!
