On this day 34 years ago, the multi-talented Darren Criss was born. The actor/singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist can basically do it all. He got his first big break co-creating and starring in A Very Potter Musical while he was in college at the University of Michigan and then landed his first major TV role as Blaine Anderson in the iconic show Glee. He’s even taken on even more complex roles over the years, such as the infamous serial killer Andrew Cunanan in American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace and Golden Age Hollywood director Raymond Ainsley in Netflix’s Hollywood.

Darren has done a lot in these past 34 years, but one thing he’s especially great at is covering songs so well that they just may be better than the original. To celebrate Darren’s birthday, we’re taking a look at 10 (in no particular order) of our favorite covers of his from over the years. We have to admit, narrowing it down to just 10 was a challenge.
