Machine Gun Kelly’s First Single Of 2021 Is A Nightmare (In The Best Way)

Cue the creepy vibes! Houston native Machine Gun Kelly has released an incredible single that you can still mosh to. “DAYWALKER!” featuring the infamous internet personality CORPSE (also known as Corpse Husband), dropped on Friday, March 12, combining punk-rock rage with edgy rap. It’s a chaotic and beautiful mess that can’t go unnoticed!

Sounding more like a deranged journal entry than a song, “DAYWALKER!” is just over two minutes, and could easily be on the soundtrack to a horror flick. With a backing track that’s purely Hitchcockian, the song is eerie, compelling, wild, and free, just like Kelly’s revamped persona as a bonafide rockstar.

If this is your first introduction to MGK, take a listen into his library to see how much he’s evolved and changed since he first arrived into music as purely a rapper. With influences that range from DMX to Blink-182, Machine Gun Kelly (aka Colson Baker) stomped his way on the music scene in 2012’s debut Lace Up and has since created a prolific catalog that has spanned several genres. He’s collaborated with tons of artists, both expected and unexpected. Whether they’re fellow rappers (Lil Jon, Blackbear, Quavo, Ty Dolla $ign), punk rockers, (Travis Barker) or pop songstresses (Camila Cabello, Hailee Steinfeld, and Halsey).

Most recently, he dropped 2020’s Tickets To My Downfall, which earned praise for his production style and musicality. Our favs include “Bloody Valentine,” “Forget Me Too (feat. Halsey),” and “My Ex’s Best Friend (feat. blackbear).”  The most emotional was perhaps “Lonely,” because the lyrics indicate feeling of losing someone and feeling alone even though “the room is full” of company. His performance on SNL back in January was phenomenal and trailblazing.

He vowed to LA radio station KROQ earlier this month to “keep bring the mold” with his music, and we can’t wait to see what he tries next. Listen to “DAYWALKER!” below:
