Selena Gomez Provides Smooth Groove With A Latin Pop EP

A perfect soundtrack for spring vibes! Starlight Selena Gomez released an ultralight and vibrant Latin EP, Revelación, last week and we CAN’T stop listening! The Mexican-American singer does a magnificent job incorporating Spanish elements with her own signature style of fun and groove!

In January 2020, the multi-talented performer released Rare, her first album in five years and post breakup. The album featured chart-toppers and jams such as “Dance Again” and “Look At Her Now”, as well as the beautiful ballad “Lose You To Love Me”.

The seven songs on Revelación were written by Gomez and her team, one of them being, Puerto Rican producer Marco “Tainy” Masís. Masís can be considered of the trailblazers behind reggaetón, a fusion of chill reggae and Latin-sounds. He’s collaborated with many greats, including Daddy Yankee, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Dua Lipa, and Justin Bieber.

The chemistry of the album is mystifying, as Gomez sings about love, rhythm, and heartache. “De Una Vez,” the opener of the album, is a perfect gateway to the dance/movement focus. It first appeared in January as a teaser for Revelación, bringing the smiles to the fans! “Balia Conmigo (with rising star Rauw Alejandro) is about dancing with a stranger, meanwhile in “Adiós,” she stands up to an ex!

Each track embodies light, spirit, and Latin sound, making them irresistible and fun! DJ Snake appears on the tracklist, to help produce the closing single “Selfish Love”, which was released a few weeks ago. It’s the perfect end to Revelación , as the saxophone mixed with urban notes and tones work well together!

Revelación is the second stab for Gomez at recording music in Spanish. A decade ago, she released Spanish versions of her hits a “A Year Without Rain” and “Who Says.” She also recorded a posthumous duet with her namesake, Tejana legend Selena Quintanilla. Gomez became a force in Latin music in 2018 from her feature on DJ Snake’s global smash “Taki Taki” with Cardi B and Ozuna.

Besides music, Selena has also been active on the beauty scene and food/culture market! She launched “Rare Beauty” in accordance with her album-release last year. The brand focuses on the uniqueness and foundation in our own skin, and advocates for mental health, providing organizations and information on how to get help and guidance if we’re struggling.

The entrepreneur and beauty advocate also has a cooking show called “Selena and Chef”, which is available on HBO Max.

Revelación won’t fail to bring you to your feet. Check it out here! Baliando!
