Olly Alexander aka Years & Years returns alongside Galantis to expose the ever so frustrating “Sweet Talker.” The collaboration tackles a stereotype that we’re all familiar with — a person who’s all talk and no action. The track is taken from the forthcoming new album Night Call, set for release on January 7 via Interscope Records.
“Sweet Talker” addresses every smooth operator that tells people sweet nothings and promises the world. However, the titular charmers never see any of their promises through. Ghosting is part of modern romance, but Olly won’t settle for it. Therefore, he reclaimed the narrative of his own encounters and relationships gone sour. The result is a club-ready single that you can both dance and relate to.

The new track follows hot on the heels of news that Years & Years’ third album, Night Call, will be released January 7. “Sweet Talker” serves as the follow-up to “Crave,” released earlier this year with an incredible music video featuring Olly and his cast mates from his Award-winning drama, It’s A Sin. The HBO Max series also deeply influenced his songwriting for his latest music. The new content blurs the line between fantasy and reality, but it’s all bound together by the explorations of queer life.
Night Call is set to be a thrilling new chapter for Years & Years. It captures the joy and anticipation of going out — a sensation once lost during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. “I was writing from a fantastical space, stuck in the same four walls,” says Olly. “I wanted to have as much pleasure as possible in the music.” Naturally, this hints at a more hedonistic and escapist sound for the album. “Crave” and “Sweet Talker” are merely the tip of the iceberg.
