Last Friday, Kayleigh Goldsworthy released a music video for her new single “Overambitious.” Recently signed to Memory Music, Kayleigh is no stranger to the music scene. Her parents met when her mom auditioned for her dad’s band, she taught herself how to play piano, and she formed The Scarlet Ending with her twin sister in junior high.
Kayleigh released “Overambitious” alongside “Keep The Light On,” and this is her first solo work since her 2018 EP, All These Miles. Goldsworthy also released an album in 2013, Burrower, and she is currently a member of Frank Iero and the Future Violents.
Moreover, Bob Sweeney was in charge of directing the music video for “Overambitious.” In it, we can see Kayleigh looking for a new band. Special guests Nick Ghanbarian (Bayside), Tucker Rule (Thursday), Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), and Kevin Devine audition for Kayleigh while she performs the song and plays with her dog Maisie at the same time. Overall, the music video is very creative and fun, but the real star is Goldsworthy’s sweet, melodious voice.
Definitely, Kayleigh is an artist you should be listening to, and she’s ready to work her way up in the industry. The pop-rock vibes in “Overambitious” and the soothing piano in “Keep The Light On” show her diversity as a musician and her passion for her job.
While both tracks are sonically different, the main themes in them are pretty similar. Kayleigh explores self-love and self-worth even in life’s difficult moments. She also believes in second chances and hopes for a better future. Kayleigh’s songwriting truly shines in each song, and her performances are charming.
