After a long two year hiatus, Coachella has finally kicked off again and the first weekend was full of incredible performances and surprises! This year included a huge lineup with headliners Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Swedish House Mafia with The Weeknd. The festival also had several other notable acts such as Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Karol G and many, many more. Even Justin Bieber popped out for a surprise performance of “Peaches” with Daniel Caesar.
Speaking of surprises, Harry Styles surprised the crowd with none other than Shania Twain! The singer joined Styles for two epic performances of her songs “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” and “You’re Still the One.” But that’s not all Harry surprised the crowd with; he also played not one but two unreleased songs from his upcoming album Harry’s House. Being Friday’s headliner he started the weekend off with a bang!
Day two of the festival was headlined by Billie Eilish making her the festival’s youngest headliner ever! Billie’s energy had the whole crowd jumping, amongst the high energy performances she also slowed things down for angelic performances of her songs “i love you” and “lovely” which she brought out Khalid for. Billie’s set also included a surprise appearance from Gorillaz‘s Damon Albarn who joined her for a performance of her song “Getting Older” and Gorillaz’s hit song “Feel Good Inc..” Billie ended her set with an electric performance of her latest fan favorite, “Happier Than Ever..”
Sunday’s headliner was under much more pressure as they were only added a week before the festival when Kanye West pulled out. Watching the set you would have never known this was thrown together last minute. The split set started with Swedish House Mafia who hyped up the crowd with their epic comeback after being on a hiatus for several years. They played several of their hits before transitioning into their remix of The Weeknd’s “Sacrifice.” The Weeknd then played an electric set full of all of his greatest hits ending the night with his collab with Swedish House Mafia, “Moth To A Flame.”
With weekend one full of so many incredible performances and surprises, we cannot wait to see what these artists pull out for the festivals upcoming second weekend!
