Olivia Rodrigo has been enjoying her first tour across America in support of her Grammy-award-winning debut record Sour since the beginning of April. Yet, during her sold-out show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Tuesday, April 26, Olivia Rodrigo was delighted to see two, very special guests come out to support her— Julia Lester and Larry Saperstein who were her co-stars on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The two friends attended the big show to meet up with the budding star and cheer her on from the audience.
Lester is currently in rehearsals for the Encores! production of Into the Woods in New York City, so it makes sense to see them meet up at Radio City Music Hall. Per a quick live-motion photo backstage, one can see the three Disney stars reuniting with big hugs and Saperstein donning a “Drivers License” shirt in support. Lester captioned the photo: “Making us cry with pride last night” as they posted it on their Instagram shortly after Saperstein shared it on her Instagram story.
The trio of friends met on the set of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series which was a Disney+ exclusive, two-season show. Set in the same Salt Lake City high school as the original cast, the series follows a group of thespians who decide to honor the school’s history by putting on their own version of High School Musical: The Musical with Rodrigo and Lester performing as iconic High School Musical characters and Saperstein playing Big Red who helps out backstage
The show’s entire cast has always been incredibly supportive of each other. They often post photos and videos of one another celebrating their solo achievements. Seeing Olivia Rodrigo have support from two of her former co-stars such as Julia Lester and Larry Saperstein during her first tour at a sold-out Radio City Music Hall show is very sentimental, and only proves that once a Wildcat…. Always a Wildcat.
