Patty Griffin opened for The Chicks this fourth of July weekend, her iconic voice quieting the entire audience at Jones Beach. There’s a particular power the audience holds to a singer, particularly an acoustic/guitar only performance. They decide where the attention goes. When Patty got on the stage and started singing, she took the power. She has an amazing ability to keep your attention with the most simple tools – two guitars and a microphone.
